My Staple Perfumes - Night and Day
Sunday, January 13, 2013
I'm a bit of a perfume hoarder by nature; I always seem to be getting a new bottle whenever I get the chance to save up the money. Even though my collection is a bit over extensive ('a bit' being an understatement), I always tend to go through phases of using the same two, so I thought I'd share them with you! I'm not too good at describing scents, so i'll write the notes down so you can try and visualise them a bit better...
♥ Day - Chanel Coco Mademoiselle
I first smelt this perfume in 2010 while I was in Manchester with my family, and instantly fell in love with it. I picked up a little sample at the time which (used sparingly) lasted me a few months, and finally got the 35ml bottle last year.
This perfume can only be described as pretty. It's such a subtle feminine scent, which means that it's not so overpowering, but it's also very distinctive at the same time. It has a hint of vanilla to it, but is floral-y and fresh too. This is definitely my signature daily perfume at the moment, and I can see myself wearing it all year round - even though it could be described as quite a summery scent.
If you haven't smelt Coco Mademoiselle before, I definitely recommend giving it a sniff!
Top Notes Orange, Bergamot, Grapefruit Middle Notes Litchi, Rose, Italian Jasmine Base Notes Indonesian Patchouli, Haitian Vetiver, Bourbon Vanilla, White Musk
♥ Ghost Deep Night
If i'm being honest, the first time I smelt this perfume I hated it. I'm not sure why, but when I first sprayed it on myself in Boots I really didn't like the smell at all. After I'd left the shop however I kept getting whiffs of something that smelt really really nice, and soon realised that it was the perfume I'd disliked so much only ten minutes beforehand. Long story short, I went back and bought the perfume the same week.
Deep Night is an intense, but equally smooth scent. It's vanilla-y, but almost woody and fruity at the same time. It's dark, musky and gothic-like, but the sweeter notes make it soft and wearable too. It reminds me entirely of being warm inside on a cold day. It's such a unique smell, and I've had so many comments on it - Which is always nice! Although I've chosen this perfume as my 'night' scent, it's definitely very wearable during the day too if you prefer a slightly heavier perfume. Go and sniff it, it's gorgeous!
Top notes Cereus, Rose Middle notes Apricot, Peach, White Wood Base notes Amber, Vanilla
So those are my go-to night and day perfumes at the moment. They're both equally as lovely in such different ways, so if you get the chance, they're definitely worth a look at in my opinion. Let me know if you've tried these perfumes, or if you have any suggestions of your personal favorites, I'd love to hear them!

DeleteI have just the ordinary 'Ghost' perfume, is the deep night really different? I kindof alternate between that, 'Marry Me' by Lanvin (which no-one ever seems to have heard of, but it's amaaaaazing!) and 'Euphoria' by Calvin Klein (everyone knows that one! :L). they are very different but equally lovely. I've always wanted to try a Chanel perfume but the ones I've tried before all smell a bit... old? I might give Mademoiselle a try, it sounds lush. My sister had 'Midnight Poison Elixir' by Dior and that was heavenly, but I'm not sure if they make it anymore *sniff*...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, sorry, perfume rant over! Lovely blog btw :)

Yes, Deep Night is definitely extremely different, but I would definitely recommend giving it a sniff in store before getting it, as it is a very unique scent. As for Mademoiselle, I completely get what you're saying about Chanel smelling a bit old... but Madem is such a young fragrance compared to most Chanel perfumes. Miss Dior Cherie is also a really lovely perfume! Thank you! xx
DeleteThank you for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it so much!
