Orange Nail Polishes | My Top 5

Tuesday, July 30, 2013

I've been wearing Orange/Coral nails non stop lately; there's just something about those colours that makes me feel all the more summery in this hot weather. I somehow managed to whittle my huge collection of Orange and Coral nail polishes down to my top 5, so I thought I'd share them!

First up is Revlon's 'One Perfect Coral', which is probably my favourite polish of the five. The colour itself is almost leaning towards being a bit red, but the coral undertones make it a great alternative. Revlon nail polishes are my absolute favourites for pigmentation and I generally only need one coat for an opaque look, which is great if you're completely impatient like me. It also dries quite quickly and lasts about 4 days on my nails without chipping.

Topshop's 'Art School'* is a much more muted coral colour with quite peachy undertones. I find that it's a really wearable polish that I seem to go back to again and again when I can't decide on what colour to wear. Topshop seem to get it right every time with their polishes, the formula is always lovely and they tend to dry really quickly (lasting 3 or 4 days) on my nails.

Next up is a polish that's been in my collection since I was about 14 years old (how it hasn't gone gloopy yet I do not know). 'Tropical Island' by 17 is a pretty Orange-coral with barely there gold shimmer which catches the light in the sun. Out of the five polishes I'd say that this is the one with the least wear time, but it's such a pretty colour while it lasts!

A brand that I seem to be going to for polishes quite a lot recently is Rimmel. 'Instyle Coral' is the most pink toned coral polish in this little collection, and although it looks very similar to the Topshop one in the bottle, you can definitely tell the difference on the nails. These polishes dry super quickly which is a big bonus for me, and the formula is pretty good for the price lasting about 3 days without chipping.

Last but not least comes Essie's 'Chubby Cheeks'. I have a very love hate relationship with Essie in the fact that I absolutely hated the old formula, but actually really like the new one. I wouldn't give this polish a ten out of ten for lasting power (maybe an 8.5), but the brushes from Essie are really wide making application very easy, and the pigmentation is great too. Chubby Cheeks is a really lovely deep orange colour that I think could be great for all year round, and gives a pop of colour to a plain outfit.

Let me know if you've tried any of these polishes, or what your favourite Orange/Coral shades are!
